7 The v3 double mount
Stand v2 fixed the creep lever, but its PC sits high on the back of the screen. Many monitors with built-in electronics put the electronics box low, behind the bottom of the screen. That keeps the screen thin where you see it, and it puts the heavy part near the stand.
For v3 I split the problem. Forget the stand for now, and design the sub-component first: one printed part that bolts to the monitor's VESA inserts with 4 × M4, and also holds the PC low. Once that part exists, any stand only has to hold one thing.
Fixed for every option
- The screen is upright for this study, with no tilt.
- The VESA fixing is the same in all options: 4 × M4 × 10 countersunk, flush, through a 6.5 mm plate, leaving 3.5 mm of thread in the 3.6 mm inserts.
- Any side vent that faces the plate gets 15 mm of open air.
- The frame is the monitor model's: origin at the VESA centre on the back face, heights measured from the screen's bottom edge, depths from the screen's face.
These are massing models again, so I listed what they leave out: vent rows, cable routes and the stand interface. The difference from v1 is that the VESA joint is real from the start.
