11.4 The clamp that let go
Print 1 put the clamp, arm, plate and pad on one plate, arranged in Bambu Studio. The estimate was 4 h 17 min and 153.1 g, with timelapse off.
The arm, the plate and the pad printed well enough to fit, with a few marks and strings. The clamp printed its base and the C's outline, then came loose, and the rest of it went into the air as spaghetti.
Bambu Studio's arrange had put the clamp 1 mm from the bed's front edge. The clamp is 40 mm tall and dense (5 walls, 30% infill), and it prints on the A1's moving bed. Its narrow jaws pull up at the ends as they cool. I confirmed it came off the bed early: a thin first layer with the bed's texture under it, not a split between layers.
Print 2 was the clamp alone, in the middle of the bed, with a 5 mm brim, on a plate washed with dish soap and dried. It took 2 h 23 min and 74.9 g, and it printed whole.
The lesson: keep tall, dense parts away from the bed's edges, or print them alone in the middle. Use a brim and a washed plate for anything tall.
