4 Stand v1: the screen above the PC
The first brief was mine and visual: a curved, iMac-like foot and arm, the computer floating below, the screen above. One printed stand for both.
Every concept shares the same interfaces, so only the form changes:
- Screen: on an 85 mm VESA 75 plate, leaning back 10°, bottom edge 86.5 mm above the desk.
- PC: on a tray under its base, like the base gauge: 80 mm wide between the corner pads, with a lip up the front face. The base sits 35 mm above the desk.
- Cables: every cable leaves the PC's rear, so a zone 45 mm deep behind the ports stays clear.
- Masses: monitor 0.8 kg (typical for a 15.6" portable; not weighed yet), PC 0.28 kg, PLA at 1.24 g/cm³ with 35% of the volume printed solid (from an A1 slice at 2 walls and 15% infill).
These were massing models for choosing a direction: fixed dimensions, no joints and no fasteners. That last point turned out to matter more than I expected.
