10.1 The swivel

The tab on the fin's seat, from behind

After the first review of v5 (10) I added a swivel the same day. The screen turns about 40° each way.

A tab on the plate's leg sits on a seat on the fin and turns about a vertical axis on the screen's centre line. An M6 × 30 from above clamps it, and the bolt sets the friction.

The stops are simple. The head of an M3 screw in the seat runs in an arc groove under the tab, and the groove's ends stop the screen at 45° each way. I'd asked for 40°, so there's 5° to spare.

The checks

Check Result
Screen turned in 5° steps (1° near contact), against every fixed part Nothing touches from -45° to +45°
First contact The stop, as intended
70 N of bolt preload Holds 0.3 N m
Push at the screen's edge that turns it 2.7 N, below the push that tips the stand

Turned left Turned right

The cables move as the screen turns. The mini HDMI plug moves 66 mm at 45°, so I need about 30 mm of slack inside the base.

This swivel, its seat, its stop and the plate carried on unchanged into the shelf mount (11).
