10.2 Measuring the real desk

The desk model: the shelf's left end, its leg and the main monitor's end

Before anything clamps onto the desk, the desk had to become a model. It holds the desk top, the oak shelf, its two steel legs and the main monitor, so Claude can check fits against it.

Part Measurement Source
Shelf Solid oak, 1200 × 200 × 19 mm Measured
Shelf height Top 116 mm above the desk, underside at 97 Measured
Legs Black steel strip bent into a loop across the shelf's depth, 35 mm in from each end Measured
Leg flanges The strip's ends turn in under the shelf, 80 mm apart at their tips A rule, in inches
Main monitor LG 49WQ95C, 1215 mm wide, 3800R curve, 12.6 kg, on an arm Spec
Monitor's bottom edge 176 mm above the desk Measured
Monitor's face About 60 mm behind the shelf's front edge Tape

Screens are drawn in cornflower blue against black cases, so they stand out in every render.

The wall behind the desk is plasterboard, with a vertical line I read as a stud. I've kept that for a wall mount later.
